FREQUENT QUESTIONS

What is a coach for?

.

A coach is an expert in coaching who accompanies his client (Coachee) on the learning path that involves the development of his potential, that is, he serves as technical support to help bring out his abilities and skills. In this way, the coach will also help the coachee to identify possible limitations and fears and will assist in their elimination. The coach also serves to provide a series of tools that provide added value to the coachee in achieving their goals.

.

Why do you hire a Coach?

.

In general, a person hires a coaching process because he wants more and better results than he is obtaining in different areas of his life. They are usually people who want to make the most of life, grow and develop. Intellectually restless people who, for one reason or another, have not taken the definitive step to change their life. Or they may be people who have been thinking about it for a long time but cannot make up their minds due to self-imposed limitations, and yet they fervently want to make those changes.

There are many other reasons to hire a coach:

  • We decide to take into account a purpose or a goal but we do not know where to start

  • We feel like we want to change our course, either professionally or personally.

  • We have started our crusade but we want to accelerate the results

  • We want to develop, grow, explore and know ourselves

  • We want to improve our relationships, be they work or personal

  • We want to become aware and / or discover what we really want to do with our life

  • We want to reconcile our work and family / personal life

  • We want to become aware of our strengths and / or correct our weaknesses

  • We want to better manage our time

.

What benefits does coaching bring?

.

First of all, people who start a coaching process usually exceed their own expectations. Little by little you will observe changes, new perspectives from which to focus your objectives, new capacities and abilities, limitations that disappear and obstacles that you are able to overcome. You will be able to see how your performance, your confidence and your decision-making capacity improve. With Coaching, all of this will result in greater personal satisfaction both in personal and professional fields, which in turn will motivate you to achieve the goals that you have set for yourself.

.

Who is the coaching for?

.

Coaching is a dynamic aimed at anyone willing to commit themselves to achieving their goals. If there is no will and commitment, it is better to wait until the person feels ready to experience these changes. Coaching is aimed at those who have and / or wish to discover their purposes and goals to achieve. To those who feel limited by themselves, or by others. To those who are in constant search of themselves and in continuous development. To those people who feel like changing course, taking the reins and choosing their path.

What are the coaching sessions like and how long does the process take?

.

At Pernett PNL Coach we are aware of the busy life we lead today. Do you know that the average number of hours available for leisure (everything that is neither work nor maintenance, that is, shopping, eating, sleeping, driving to the office, etc.) is only 12.5% of the hours available in a year? Therefore, you can choose between sessions via Skype or face-to-face.

In Pernett PNL Coach the duration of the sessions is usually 60 minutes, and can be extended up to 90 or two hours if both people involved agree. In the sessions, the coach will pose a series of open questions to the coachee so that he becomes aware, clarifies his ideas and reframing his points of view if he wishes. The basis of coaching are questions, dialogue. Therefore, it is essential that there is sincerity and trust on both sides. During the sessions, the coach will also use a series of tools and resources such as tests, questionnaires, evaluations, forms, as necessary, to make the client aware. Before the first session, the client is usually asked to fill out a comprehensive questionnaire about himself, which he will return to the coach before the exploratory session.

PROCESS

Regarding the process, in Pernett PNL Coach we try that the process does not last more than 14-16 sessions, spread over about 3/4 months. It all depends on the client's wishes and their internalization and learning. In general, the average number of sessions per process is between 12 and 16. In "coachsulting" it is also possible to hire our services by months, instead of by processes or sessions.

The process itself basically consists of five well-differentiated parts:

  • Establish the Coaching relationship

  • Identify customer needs and explore reality

  • Establish an action plan

  • Evaluation

  • Tracing

1 Appreciative approach. Pernett NLP Coach incorporates an appreciative approach. The appreciative approach is a way of thinking, feeling and acting in the realities that surround us, which invites us to approach any situation from a generative, positive, viable and possible point of view. It has a large part of its foundations in language and proactivity. The way we speak is generated by thoughts, which in turn depend on our personal approach to things.

2Neuro-Linguistic Programming Approach. Pernett NLP Coach also incorporates an approach to NLP, which also has a lot to do with language. NLP tries to explain how the brain encodes learning and experience, through language. Another definition used for NLP is: the study of the structure of subjective experience. NLP holds that people think and act based on their internal representations of the world and not on the world itself. Once we understand how we create and maintain our inner thoughts, it is simple to replace them with more useful ones.

I refer to these two approaches carried out by Pernett PNL Coach because I consider it necessary to emphasize the benefit that their use causes: deep awareness for the client and unprecedented results.

.

What responsibilities do both Coach and Coachee take on?

.

LIABILITY OF THE PERNETT PNL COACH COACH

  • Work under the legal regulations in force in Ecuador

  • Strict confidentiality in all aspects, both client data (LOPD) and the sessions themselves, unless there is an express authorization from the client.

  • Be a qualified and trained coach to practice professionally

  • Refer or refer the client to another type of professional if necessary (therapist, consultant, etc.)

  • Suspend the Coaching process in case of conflict of any kind.

COACHEE LIABILITY

  • Attend planned sessions

  • Commit to yourself and the process voluntarily

  • Be sincere and honest, and provide feedback about your feelings about the Coach or the process

  • Carry out your action plans

  • The client is 100% responsible for all the DECISIONS he takes and ACTIONS he takes due to the dynamics of coaching.

On the other hand, in order for the process to be successful, certain attitudes are required from the coachee:

  • Self discipline To question existing beliefs and behaviors in yourself and to develop others more suitable to achieve your goals.

  • Reflection and observation. About himself, his own thoughts, emotions and beliefs.

  • Commitment. Commitment is not only an intellectual issue but also an emotional one. Only if you are emotionally involved will action be taken and continued. the Coach should explore the actual commitment of the Coachee

  • Willingness to change, learn and unlearn.

  • Decision capacity. All change requires the acquisition of new habits and for this you need WILL, INTENTION, DESIRE AND DECISION. According to Enrique Rojas, the will is the ability that leads us to do something, anticipating its consequences through the sacrifice of what is immediate, easy, ephemeral and trivial for what is mediate, more difficult, lasting, valuable and superior. Without that final decision, followed by action, all the work done up to that point will have been useless.

  • Willingness to give up certain things, habits, time, etc. in the process towards achieving your goals.

.

What exactly is a Coach and what does it do?

.

The Coach is the professional who directs and coordinates the Coaching process, who acts as a guide for his Coachee in his search for change. Its mission could be summed up in

  • Offer objective observations to the coachee in order to promote self-awareness and

  • Encourage and motivate the Coachee to reflect through dialogue so that they acquire a deeper perspective on themselves and develop skills and attitudes that allow them to achieve success.

A coach is not a "problem solver" since he does not provide solutions, but tools for change and growth. On the contrary, the coach acts as a mirror, reflecting the responses of the coachee and encouraging him, if necessary, to reframe his own perspectives.

The coach bases the relationship mainly on dialogue, on questions. A good question at the right time can make the client or coachee aware of many different things, situations, limitations, beliefs, emotions, etc. It also motivates, supports, guides, accompanies the coachee. Shares own experiences, helps to identify talents or abilities of the coachee, assists in the generation of options, helps in the action plan and suggests, with the express permission of the coachee.

.

How will I know that the Coaching process is working?

.

In general, the very achievement of the objectives and / or the assurance of the coachee of being able to continue towards them on his own, are valid indicators to consider that the process has worked or is working. As can be seen, the indicated measurements are of a different nature between them, since the first indicator would be external and the second internal. Other examples of external indicators could be:

  • Feedback obtained from third parties towards the coachee;

  • Personal performance data

The coachee's internal indicators are equally valid, and can range from actual self-assessments to the coachee's own feeling, self-awareness, or thoughts.

.

What is the difference between coaching and other techniques?

.

Coaching is a technique whose essential objective is the development of the person and their improvement. In this sense we can say that it focuses on action and progress towards the future and not on past issues such as therapy. It also differs from this in that therapy heals, whereas coaching does not deal with people who need to be healed. While it is true that during the Personal Coaching relationship, emotional or mood-related issues may arise and be resolved, this will be just an additional result of the ultimate purpose of the process, which is to create a strategy for development and advancement. of the coachee.

Consultancy

The consultancy takes advantage of the consultant's experience to facilitate the diagnosis of problems, the search for solutions or the implementation of new processes in specific fields in which the consultant is an expert. The coach is an expert in coaching, he is not necessarily an expert in any specific field, and it is the individual who generates his own solutions and creates and implements his own action plan.

Mentoring

Mentoring is a process in which a person with a large dose of experience guides another along the same path, sharing all their knowledge with their “apprentice”. It is the closest thing to coaching, as long as we talk about executive coaching. Every mentor is a coach, but not every coach is a mentor.

.

Is there a Code of Ethics for Coaching?

.

For Personal Coaching to be effective, the rights of the coachee and the coach must be taken into account. Like any situation that deals with the human, Coaching requires ethical reflection and implies that the Coach adopts very clear deontological rules to protect the interests of their clients. These are:

  • I respect

  • Responsibility

  • Confidentiality

  • Professional competence

In accordance with the legal responsibilities of every Professional Coach, both in Ecuador and in the rest of the world, there is a Code of Ethics and Confidentiality, as well as the Coach's Code of Ethics. The Code of Ethics and Confidentiality by which all coaches are governed is that promulgated by the International Coach Federation (ICF).
